Tonchaya: Japanese Kitchen & Bar

Finally adding a category on my blog on #wheretoeat in the city (you can view some of them under the categories menu). This time, I am featuring Tonchaya: Japanese Kitchen & Bar at Bonifacio High Street located at The Fort Strip. Once in a while, my family would eat a non-Filipino cuisine and on that day, we tried to eat the Japanese way ---- ordering some of our favorite Japanese dishes including Okonomiyaki and Gyudon on a hot summer day! We enjoyed their food and decided to bring home some of them because the serving is just too big for three people and knowing that, it's safe to say that the price is just right for the dishes.

The only problem on their restaurant is that their service is "what you need is what you get" and to be honest, it doesn't exceed what customer service is all about. I don't know if it's because we decided to eat outside (since we have our dog with us) and the staff is too busy assisting guest inside their restaurant which I highly doubt, because it's already after lunch time. Just for example, we never get table napkins unless we asked them or they will never give us set of cutleries unless we ask for it. I mean those are usually the basics on a restaurant, right? Hopefully their service will be better.

MUST TRY: Okonomiyaki - We've tried different Japanese restaurants and this is always on our order list! Tonchaya's okonomiyaki is our favorite among the dishes that we ordered because the texture itself is so fluffy that it almost feels like a cake which by the way, Okonomiyaki should be!

LOCATION: The Fort Strip, Katipunan Circle, 7th Ave. cor. 26th St., Bonifacio Global City, Taguig City

  24. The food looks amazing...I hope the service will improve. I think sometimes waiters simply don't have the time to see what everyone needs, especially when guests are sitting outside. So, maybe it was not intentional on their side.

you look totally cute and pretty btw! I like your outfit!

  41. Oh gosh all this food looks stunning, especially the salad. I've had issues sometimes with restaurants and eating outside, I think they do tend to put outside seating on the backburner sometimes. It happens. Usually as long as they aren't flat out rude, I can deal with the service.
